Minimum Wage Increase
January 13, 2020
As of January 1st, New Jersey’s Minimum Wage has increased to $11 an hour for many employers. Businesses with 5 or fewer employees may pay a Minimum Wage rate of $10.30 an hour. To qualify, you must have no more than five employees for the majority of the weeks of the current calendar year and no more than five employees during at least 48 weeks in the previous calendar year. If you are a newly formed business then it is only the total number of employees that is considered for the minimum wage exception.
