State Board Enforcing Limitation on Botox Administration

Following receipt by a member dentist of a Settlement Letter in Lieu of Formal Disciplinary Proceedings for administering Botox for "cosmetic enhancement for forehead lines or crow's feet" Click Here, the NJDA urged the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry to adopt a voluntary, temporary moratorium on the enforcement of" the injectable pharmacologics regulation pending further consideration. At its meeting on May 1, 2019, the State Board declined to adopt a moratorium and indicated that it had and would continue to enforce the regulation despite NJDA's insistence that there was no scope of practice violation. The Association is weighing how to proceed.
