The New Jersey Dental Association is the voice of the dental profession and a strong proponent of oral health in the state. Members are part of a vibrant community of dentists encompassing 12 local dental societies as well as the American Dental Association. Members engage in educational programs, have access to dentist-centric relationships and tools to navigate the business of dentistry and their careers, as well as benefit from dedicated advocacy that protects the interests of the profession. The organization is run by member-dentists with the support of a team of professionals at NJDA Headquarters. NJDA members never practice alone!

Dr. Mark A. Vitale Installed as President of the NJDA
Dr. Vitale earned a BA in chemistry from Rutgers University prior to attending Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) School of Dental Medicine, from which he graduated in 1983. In 1985, after completing a general practice residency (GPR) program at JFK Medical Center in Edison, Dr. Vitale opened his general practice, Edison Dental Arts, where he continues to practice today with Dr. Paul Tedeschi.
In addition, Dr. Vitale was a part-time faculty member in the Department of Prosthodontics at FDU School of Dental Medicine and director of the GPR program at JFK Medical Center for seven years. He went on to chair the Department of Dentistry at the medical center and is still a volunteer faculty member at the GPR program there.
Dr. Vitale's involvement in organized dentistry has included being a trustee of NJDA and a past president of the Middlesex County Dental Society. He has served on the Council for Peer Review of the NJDA, is Vice Chairperson of the New Jersey Dental Political Action Committee and has served as Chairperson of the NJDA Council on Dental Benefits. He is part of the NJDA Opioid task force which created opioid prescribing guidelines for dentists.
In addition to his involvement on the component and state level, Dr Vitale is a member of the Academy of Oral Medicine, the Seattle Study Club, and is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2010 he received his fellowship in the American College of Dentists.
Born in Newark and raised in Iselin, Dr. Vitale currently lives in Brick with his wife Deborah. As active members of Sacred Heart Parish in Bay Head, they chair an annual New Year's Day Dinner for the poor and homeless of Ocean and Monmouth County.
